John the Baptist was preordained by God to prepare the people for the coming of the Messiah, Jesus Christ. He went into the high desert to preach, where the people came to hear him. He did not care about the clothes he wore or the food he would have to eat. His only concern was to turn the people toward repentance and God. Jesus called him the greatest man ever to have lived.
