Christ The Good Shepherd

Christ The Pantocrator Icon

Description:

In Christian iconography, Christ Pantocrator refers to a specific depiction of Christ. Pantocrator or Pantokrator is, used in this context, a translation of one of many Names of God in Judaism.

When the Hebrew Bible was translated into Greek as the Septuagint, Pantokrator was used both for YHWH Sabaoth "Lord of Hosts" and for El Shaddai "God Almighty". In the New Testament, Pantokrator is used once by Saint Paul (2 Cor 6:18 ). Aside from that one occurrence, the author of the Book of Revelation is the only New Testament author to use the word Pantokrator. The author of Revelation uses the word nine times, and while the references to God and Christ in Revelation are at times interchangeable, Pantokrator appears to be reserved for God alone.

Jesus Christ Mandylion

Description:

August 15th 944 was a day of great jubilation and excitement for the citizens
of the capital of the Byzantine Empire, for on it one of the most precious relics,
the famous mandylion bearing the imprint of the face of Christ, came to the end
of its long journey from Edessa, to be escorted in solemn procession into
Constantinople; the following day the relic was taken in procession to the great
church of the Holy Wisdom, and then finally found its resting place in a chapel of
the imperial palace. An annual commemoration of the image, on 16th August,
was inserted into the liturgical calendar.1
Earlier in the year of 944 the Byzantine
Emperor, Romanos I, had managed to reach an agreement with the Muslim
authorities that they would be willing to hand it over in exchange for 200 Muslim
prisoners and 12,000 pieces of silver.2
Probably not long after its arrival in
Constantinople, the mandylion was portrayed on an icon that is still preserved in
the Monastery of St Catherine, Mount Sinai.

About Ryszard:

I am a Polish artist living in Olkusz, Poland. Painting is my love and my passion; it has fascinated me since I was a child. Look at my art and you will see my life experiences in it.

My specialty is iconography.

About 6 years ago I had health crises. I almost died. This had an enormous impact on me. It changed my life, leading me to realize that the love and feeling in my heart was most important priority. It lead me down another path in life, creating Religious Icons. I thank God for saving me and giving me a second chance to use my talents to glorify His Name. I always find divine power in my paintings and strive to create them with intentions of love and prayer.

My artwork has been shown in many exhibitions throughout Europe and has been sold to many private buyers throughout the whole world.
